Vick who started the season as a second string quarterback, now leads the 2011 All Star game voting, currently with over one and a half million votes.
His grace and poise under pressure from deep within the pocket is second to none. I could spend hours talking about his dexterity and ability to convert on third and long on a continual basis, but this article is not about that.
Vicks rise back to prominence has not been as smooth as he would have hoped for. Huge debate is sweeping through the NFL and sports fans alike, as to whether Michael Vick should be eligible to play in the All Star Game because of his record. Some are even stating he should not even be eligible to play in the league.
On the surface, as a Christian first, and a sports fan second, I must confess up front, that all of my ethical decisions have faith based answers, and I make no exceptions for Michael Vicks predicament, no matter how good he is at throwing the Pig Skin.
My opinion is that Michael Vick should play in the 2011 All Star game. I am a strong believer in Justice and an even stronger believer in forgiveness.
Michael Vick was found guilty, and justice was served through his time in a correctional facility, and through his rehabilitation back into main stream society.
The major player in opposing Michael Vick in the public arena, is a group of animal protective agency's who are leveraging Michael Vicks status to gain publicity for their own advantage.
These agencies do a wonderful job across the U.S protecting animals, and they do an admirable job. Also going above and beyond what a company can do with a limited budget.
However it's a little tactless and cheap to jump on the back of a guy who made a mistake and was man enough to admit it serve the time and move on.
My hope is that these companies can move on and concentrate on what their good at. Rather than harassing, and embarrassing, high profile citizens through the national media system for a very small gain.
The return of Michael Vick, has been refreshing for fans across America, that are tired of controversy and sad stories of talented Athletes who threw it all away. Michael Vick coming back in the fashion he has, has given up hope and inspiration, and also a reminder that sometimes second chances can change lives.
In this festive season where families come together and remember the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, is there someone you can give a second chance to that needs it?
