Anchorman Mark Tronson for the Australian Missionary News IPTV wore two different shirts for the interviews, one was conservative, the other was a 'bright red Hawaiian shirt' so as to be in the Honolulu mood.
German Baptist Pastor the Reverend Georg Scheirling emailed wondering what people thought of Mark's bright Hawaiian shirt. Mark's response was that he shouldn't never return from Hawaii without a bright Hawaiian shirt and those who have asked the same question at home in Australia, have concurred!
Baptist World Alliance heavy weight Reverend Tony Cupid did one of the interviews with Indian evangelist Leena Lavanya, as did his daughter Natalie Perdue interviewed Russian evangelist Tanya Fomenko.
Baptist World Alliance media guru Linda Falimy responded that the videos represent a remarkable cross section of Baptist life around the world.
The interviews were around the 4-5 minute mark and those who were interviewed ranged from a seminary professor to an Indian railway executive. Sai Joseph from Myanmar (formerly Burma) said there were 57 from his country at the congress.
Mark Tronson's selections for interview was purely random. He set up along a wall panel in the great open thoroughfare at the Hawaii (Honolulu) Convention Centre.
The process was a simple one. He walked 15 metres along the thoroughfare to the 'vast meeting area' and randomly invited a delegate for an interview. Mark was wearing his Baptist World Congress 'media' insignia and was recognised as everyone had seen him interviewing. The tripod and video camera was a bit of a give-away.
The morning Wkabena Kyei Akomeah from Ghana was interviewed, he prayed he might be invited to engage in something significant. His prayer was answered when Mark providentially tapped him on the shoulder, 'so to speak'.
Grenada Baptist Pastor Stanford Simon, a West Indies cricket tragic, was delighted to learn that Mark Tronson served as the Australian Cricket Team Chaplain for 17 years. Sanford Simon runs a television and radio ministry in Grenada, indeed, an accomplished communicator!
There were great interview stories from every continent including 'one' USA delegate: Willie E Moore from New Orleans (the after effects of Cyclone Katrina).
This resource is a wonderful medium to marvel at the proclamation of Jesus Christ across the globe.
Mark and Delma Tronson also recorded their monthly '1 minute' news video (for August) while in Hawaii at the Baptist World Congress. This short pithy news video is placed on their web site at the beginning of each month.
