The recent Sandown 500 V8 SuperCar race highlights Australia’s love of cars. Motorsport stirs the emotions as people reflect on their passionate connection with their own cars. Are they a Holden or Ford driver?
Students at Waverley Christian College, Melbourne, have recently embarked on a goal to run a Car Show with a difference.
They understood the importance and passion people have for their transport and connected it with the critical transport that Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) provide to remote communities around the world.
MAF fly to some of the most remote places around the world bringing medical assistance, emergency aid, vital supplies, and supporting local churches.
From war ravaged areas of Southern Sudan, to the flooding devastation in Bangladesh, to earthquake affected areas of PNG’s highlands, to the remote islands off Arnhem Land, MAF are there to help local communities.
The Car Show aims to raise awareness of MAF’s work. Through this event students develop project management skills and achieve their VCAL outcomes.
An $80,000 flight simulator will be at the Car Show to give people an experience of flying and highlight the MAF’s work. Students will be taking a gold coin donation to this family friendly event in Melbourne’s southeast.
It is a Car Show that will make a difference run by WCC’s VCAL students.
Waverley Christian College, 20 College Drive Narre Warren South, Melbourne. Saturday 20th October 3pm – 5pm followed by CityLife Church service. Entry gate 3.
