Actor Alden Ehrenreich is all set to play the role of Han Solo for the second upcoming standalone Star Wars movie.
Disney and Lucasfilm revealed the news on Sunday when Ehrenreich was brought on stage during the Star Wars celebration convention in London where he was introduced as the young Han Solo.
Ehrenreich has been heating up the industry lately, mostly making a big impression in 'Hail, Caesar!'
The 26 year old will play the role of Han Solo in a yet to be titled Star Wars movie scheduled for release in May 2018 and will be directed by Chris Millar and Phil Lord.
The pair said they are still working on the script and also highlighted that have already worked with Han Solo, referencing the character's cameo in the "Lego movie."
At the Star Wars event, they shared about the whole auditioning process for the movie, and how they had gone through thousands of hopeful actors. They ultimately settled on the first one had they had met - Alden Ehrenreich - who the unexpectedly stepped on stage.
Other contender included Scott Eastwood, Divergent stars Ansel Elgort and Miles Teller, Harry Potter star Tom Felton, Colton Haynes, Dave Franco, Chandler Riggs, Gossip Girl alum Ed Westwick, and Mr Robot's Rami Malek.
"I have never screen test with a Wookiee, it was amazing," Ehrenreich told fans. He even teased about doing a screen test on board the Millennium Falcon with Chewbacca.
