The Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church located in Humboldt, has recently held its Christmas worship service, with its adult and male choir singing in between verses of Scripture.
According to the report by the Jackson Sun, the church decided to organise an evangelical event of the usual Christmas program, pageant, party or other celebration.
"God is calling us to move from events and worship, it is an experience," says Senior Pastor Quill Brabham Jr. about the worship service. "We don't do anything here at Morning Star unless it, first of all, evangelizes sinners, and also edifies the saints. This is what this is all about."
The choir, which was composed of approximately 30 singers, sung several classic Christmas favorites such as "Mary Did You Know?" and "O Holy Night". The choir also sang some famous Christian hymns such as "He Is Wonderful".
As far as the program organiser, Shirley Poston, is concerned, the choir and everyone was not putting a 'show'.
"We have a lot of talented people, and one of the things we have to keep reminding them is the difference between worship and something else is that even though God has given us talent, we're not giving a show."
In the report, the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church is still actively engaging into door-to-door evangelism and soulwinning. Pastor Brabham mentioned that the church continues to train its members to share the gospel to others, telling them about the saving power of Jesus Christ.
