There is no universal sign language and Auslan is a distinct language in Australia. The Bible Society of Australia is producing the Auslan Bible as the Bible should be for everyone. The DVD is the first of a four part set containing the gospels and stories from the Old Testament as well as entirely new translation of the book of Acts.
“This is a very important translation program which enables the Deaf to have the Bible in their own language,” says biblical consultant Dr John Harris.
The Bible Society is working with Total Visual Solutions at Anglican Media studios to produce the first part, which will be available by Christmas. At mid next year, the whole set will be available.
