Ever wonder why our country continues its unabated slide, into the abyss? Fuel and food prices, rent and mortgage repayments all on the increase. The extraordinary growth of gender reassignment in our kids, the breakdown of families, divorce, the increase in youth crime, and suicide. Homelessness, mental illness and a pervasive sense of dread seem to be the new normal. Looks like we missed our ‘build back better’ moment?
The reason is obvious, the solution is not
An illustration used by James MacPherson of SKY News, at the recent Family First National Conference serves to drive home the reason we’re hurtling towards self-destruction.
It goes like this; on a pitch-black night the captain of the most powerful navy in the world, spots a light ahead in the darkness, signalling he warns the approaching vessel to move aside. But there’s no response. The fleet is now perilously close, so he signals again mentioning the importance of his fleet and mission, but still no response.
The light draws closer. Finally in desperation he sends one last warning, emphasising the might of his fleet, they’re armed with nuclear weapons, the power their engines unmatched, and they’re undefeated in battle.
At last, there’s a response. It reads; I’m a lighthouse! Your call!
Friends, we find ourselves, like that self-approbating captain of the fleet, on a collision course with the creator of the universe, and He ain’t gonna move out of the way. Drunk on our self-importance and flawed wisdom we’re running a course, which’ll end in ruin.
We can’t murder babies and the elderly, change the God assigned gender of a child, celebrate homosexuality as normal and a thousand other violations of God’s immutable principles and expect it to end well, it won’t. God isn’t going to move out of the way.
The elusive solution
Now at this point I could espouse platitudes about the importance of Christians praying and hoping for the best. While prayer is crucial in the battle between good and evil, notwithstanding so is action.
Slavery wasn’t ended by prayer only, Christians (like Wilberforce) entered the fray of politics and fought to end it. Likewise, prison reform and orphanages and hospitals, all happened when Christians took the Lord’s Prayer seriously “Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven”.
Cardboard cut outs won’t save us
Some or maybe many Christians (perhaps you’re one) believe that our politicians will save us. You know, if I vote for the one that’s less immoral than the other one, thing could improve? Sadly, neither side will save us because the current political system is fatally flawed.
Let me tell you why
The young aspiring politician (aka career politician) starts off as the secretary in a local branch. He/she hands out pamphlets at elections, attends all the branch meetings, obsequiously complies to all the requests of his masters. He cheers at the right moment during the leader’s speech, plays golf with the influencers. Until finally he/she is considered, after a number years of servitude, for pre-selection.
He/she wins office, the climb up the slippery slope to a portfolio begins. Once he/she is there, now is not the time to listen to their conscience. It’s imperative to keep the favour of the party, which has rewarded them with a large salary and prestige. The morality or the injustice of a proposed new law is extraneous, all that matters is to support the party, that supports you.
And so, we’ve cardboard cut outs representing us in parliament. Their vote guaranteed to support the government’s proposed bill or amendment no matter how damaging or evil it may be. They want to keep their job, salary and power, voting on principle would imperil it.
As one politician said, when it comes to exigencies facing our nation, our parliaments might as well be packed with cardboard cut outs. They’re physically present, but morally absent.
Want proof? How about, Victoria, Queensland and the ACT have all passed anti-conversion laws, which gaol parents if they don’t affirm their child’s perceived gender. All the elected members of these respective governments voted in favour of this bill.
Knowing that it’s an absurdity to change our gender, knowing that it will cause irreparable harm to these children, knowing that the motivation to change gender is the direct result of in school indoctrination, and yet their desire to maintain the favour of the party, even when the voice of conscience clearly tells them it’s wrong, nonetheless constrains them to support this heinous agenda.
Time doesn’t permit me to explore the many other iniquities visited upon us, such as aborted babies left to die after a failed abortion, or the legalisation of heroin etc in the ACT, or the imminent eradication of free speech (Misinformation Bill coming soon).
The Party has decreed that free speech (a crucial pillar of a democracy) is too dangerous for we, the peasants to use, and so the cardboard cut outs will vote to support the Bill in order to keep their well-paid jobs.
There is hope
There are three things you can do to force change (apart from prayer). Firstly, join your local political party, and look for candidates that respect Biblical values. If every electorate in Australia had Christian candidates or those who align with our values then Australia would be transformed overnight. It behoves you to join one.
Secondly, visit your local member, in order to express your concerns. I’m seeing mine next week.
Thirdly, consider voting for Family First, which in my view is the ONLY political party in Australia which is unashamedly committed to advancing the Judeo-Christian ethic in our nation.
