Chelsea went back to the summit of the Premier League with a hard fought 1-0 away win in the North East. Middlesbrough have been tough to beat at home this year and Chelsea through a Costa finish showed Championship quality, scraping to victory.
Chelsea are now 1 point clear of Liverpool and Manchester City in what promises to be the closest premier league year in recent history. Costa's 9th strike for the season now leads the Golden Boot after a poor campaign last time out.
Liverpool squandered a great opportunity to stay top of the Premier league with a scoreless draw in Southampton. Klopp has Liverpool playing some amazing football but after the international break, could not find a way through the tough Southampton defence.
Liverpool are still 2nd though – equal to Manchester City who had an impressive win in London, away to Crystal Palace. All was forgiven with Yaya as he found his feet on his return with a fantastic brace to help City win 2-1 & maintain their own return to winning ways.
The early kick off was the highlight of the Premier league weekend with Arsenal travelling to old Trafford in a much anticipated rivalry between Mourinho & Wenger. Untied looked like getting the upper hand and scored to lead for most of the match before a last minute header saw a share of the spoils & kept Arsenal in the top 4.
Untied on the other hand needed the win and remain 6 points off the Champions League places and 9 points off Chelsea as the gap becomes more difficult to close.
Saturday's other fixtures include a huge London derby as Spurs played hosts to West London's West Ham in a heated match. Harry Kane returned to form with a sublime hat-trick as Spurs look all 3 points to come out 3-2 winners at White Hart Lane.
Everton and Swansea played out a 1-1 draw whilst Bournemouth had an impressive 1-0 away win at Stoke in a match that saw Stoke do everything but score, hitting all posts and missing a penalty.
Defoe scored his 150th Premier League goal as Sunderland hit 3 past Hull City and Watford were too strong for Leicester, winning 2-1 at home.
