Season 3 of 'Chicago P. D.' showcased Squad Commander of the Chicago Police Department's Intelligence Unit, Hank Voight getting violent seeing his dead son Justin, then proceeding to kill and bury his murderer. That particular episode also saw Lindsay, played by Sophia Bush, present on the murder scene when Voight insists upon fleeing so that she does not end up being a "witness" to the crime.
But there is now strong speculation that Lindsay might find herself in a legal mess as she can be charged as an "accessory to murder."
Jesse Lee Soffer, Lindsay's on-screen boyfriend Halstead teases that when the new season hits, fans will see Voight doing everything he can he make sure Lindsay doesn't end up in jail alongside him.
"Voight's a father figure to her," Soffer told TVGuide. "So she's going to try to take care of him. ... What's really important for Halstead is making sure that Lindsay doesn't end up in jail, Lindsay doesn't end up going down with Voight."
Apart from this, detective Erin Lindsay and Jay Halstead are going to take their relationship to the next level in the upcoming season.
"We want to have them move in together and just play the baby steps of what it's like to live with someone [for] two very independent people who have always done their own thing. We want to start turning some cards over when it comes to that, play the wish fulfillment of it all, because the audience likes them. We like them. We want to see them together more," said Executive producer Matt Olmstead to TVLine.
He also teased that fans will see a different side of sergeant Voight in season 4 with him turning brutal.
Chicago P.D. Season 4 will premiere on Wednesday, September 21 at 10 pm on NBC.
