As some Catholic schools battle with an influx of new students who are not necessarily Catholics, Christian educators believe that enrolling children in a Christian school environment will enable the development of the 'whole child.'
Speaking to the Leader, a local NSW publication, Stephen O' Doherty who is the CEO of Christian Schools Australia said that parents wanted their child to develop both morally and spiritually which could be found in Christian schools.
"Parents want an environment for their child's moral and spiritual development and many are finding it in Christian schools,'' he said.
Senator Barnaby Joyce told Alive, a local Christian bi-monthly magazine, that the way to bring Australia back to its Judeo-Christian heritage was through a Christian education.
"…You get that from being educated in a Christian society. People can say, I don't believe in Christ. I say, Well the great thing you have is that you are free to say that, because we live in a Judeo-Christian society."
Extolling Christian values over other religious and political ideologies, Senator Joyce went further saying that in a Judeo-Christian society the people have the freedom to believe in what they want.
"..If you lived in an Islamic society and you started to renounce Mohammad, you would en up in jail. If you live in a communist society and you said you wanted to believe in God, then you would also end up in jail. In a Judeo-Christian society, you have the freedom to believe in what you want. Even if you say that you want the freedom not to believe, you get that in a Judeo-Christian society."
Recently at a Christian forum featuring both John Howard and Kevin Rudd, both had emphasised the importance of Christianity in not only shaping the nation's history but also their lives.
