Each year during Australia's winter months (June-August), around 40,000 Gulf Arabs visit the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia for holidays. YWAM's 30 Days Australia has been making the most of this opportunity. They coordinate as many Christians as possible to greet these Gulf Arabs with the gospel.
Last year was when The Affwan Project was launched, where 70 participants distributed over 1,000 bibles, tracts and Jesus DVD's in six days. "We had absolute freedom to share our faith with the people we met," said Craig Merriman, leader of 30 days Australia.
This year, the team plans to take a step further by running three outreaches over the winter months, each about 10 days long, although teams are welcome to stay longer.
Mr. Merriman encourages all Christians to come and join the outreach since the Muslims have 'zero chance' to meet a Christian. He said: "These people are coming from countries that have an almost zero chance of ever meeting a Christian or being handed a Bible."
Some of the feedback from the volunteers at the outreach includes how easy it was and how eager they (Muslims) were to hear about what Christians thought about Jesus Christ.
