|PIC1|In these troubled times, M V Tronson was concerned about the well-being of the Australian cricketers and support staff in South Africa. In his correspondence, he recounted an incident at the Beijing Olympics last year when a parent of a US Volleyballer was murdered on a Beijing street.
"However, many in the cricket world were led to understand that international cricketers were sacrosanct, no terrorist attack on the cricketers would occur. Sadly that myth has been dispelled and police officers lost their lives protecting the cricketers," commented M V Tronson .
Pakistan has always been more familiar territory for Australians than the Middle East (where some of the matches are now being played). Cricket, Field Hockey and Squash have been intertwined between Australia and Pakistan over many decades, so to witness what is happening in Pakistan has had a more immediate and personal impact.
While not in any way dishonouring the policemen who lost their lives in protecting the Sir Lankan cricketers and match officials, Mark Tronson has recently seen a railway photograph which conveys a sense of worry, which his Footplate Padre railway link people say illustrate the economic downturn.
Recognising that the shock of the Sri Lanka's cricketers and the worry of the economic down town are not on the same level, nonetheless for those now without work due to the economic downtown, their situation is also traumatic.
"This photograph was circulated by the Inside Rail E-News editor Barry Blair and it demonstrates that locomotives not at work indicate that freight was not being moved (on that day at least)," M V Tronson said.
The overarching effect of this photograph is worry, in the same week of the Sri Lankan cricketers' shooting.
"Although both situations highlight all-to-real aspects of today's world, for Christian people who believe that the Lord is ultimately in control, these events can be a conduit for a closer walk with Christ for personal comfort and assurance," M V Tronson noted.
