From the 4th to the 6th May 2006, the International C.S Lewis conference held in three separate locations over its duration will be coming to Sydney where participants will get an amazing opportunity to ‘learn about, enjoy and be challenged by this great writer.’
The conference on each day will target different audiences. On the first day the conference will be aimed at educators. The second day the audience will be academics while on the last day it will be opened to the general public.
The two key note speakers are Douglas Gresham and Chris Mitchell.
Douglas Gresham the stepson of C.S Lewis who is responsible for co-producing the film, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe founded the Rathvinden Ministries. This ministry provides support for people who suffered pregnancy loss and child abuse. Further he wrote two books entitled ‘Lenten Lands: My Childhood with Joy Davidman and C.S. Lewis’ and ‘Jack Life: The Life Story of C.S. Lewis’.
For two decades he had preserved to bring The Chronicles of Naria to life on the big screen which was finally achieved recently.
Christopher W. Mitchell, the director of the Marion E. Wade Center, which housed major research collection of the books and papers of 7 British authors including C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien is located at Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois. He also was a missionary and pastor where he received his Ph.D. from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, where his concentration was Historical Theology.
Director Mitchell had written extensively on Lewis, as well as articles for Who's Who in Christian History (Tyndale), the Evangelical Dictionary of Theology, revised edition (Baker), and the New Dictionary of National Biography (Oxford University Press).
C.S. Lewis Today is a conference for educators, academics and the general public, featuring theologians, poets, dramatists, apologists and Lewis scholars.
The other speakers include: Linda and Robert Banks, Rod Benson, Andrew Cameron, Greg Clarke, Ivan Head, Ian Keast, Andrew Lansdown, Gordon Preece, Diane Speed and Paul Tankard.
