Meanwhile, Pharrell's "Happy" was iTunes' biggest single, followed closely by John Legend's "All of Me" and Katy Perry's "Dark Horse."
As for television, the third season of Game of Thrones reigned supreme as iTunes' biggest TV show while John Green's The Fault in Our Stars was their bestselling book.
Apple also released their own editorial list, naming Beyonce as their choice for best artist, Taylor Swift's 1989 as best album, and Sam Smith as best new artist. They also chose Iggy Azalea's song with Charli XCX "Fancy" as the best song of the year.
