Since, Chelsea have seen of Newcastle 3-0 and then drew away 1-1 with West Brom, to take them 1 point clear of rivals Arsenal in the title race. City do have a game in hand, however the victory for Chelsea has been a massive confidence booster as they look to win their first league title since Mouriniho (the new coach) has taken back over.
Arsenal hosted Manchester United on Wednesday night, knowing a defeat would hurt their title credentials, and United knowing they needed to take something from the game if they are to challenge for Europe. Both teams had numerous chances and were both unlucky not to find the net in the goalless stalemate. The point leaves Arsenal only 1 point off the summit but leaves united now 15 points off the pace and 11 points off a European position. Critics are giving Moyes not much time left, however the season is not over with over 10 games still to play.
Liverpool put their amazing win over Arsenal to the back of their minds as they went to Fulham who desperately needed the points for other reasons. Liverpool came from behind twice to record yet another victory, with a last minute penalty from captain Steven Gerrard to give the Merseysiders a priceless 3 points. Liverpool are now only 4 points off the league leaders and keeping hold of their Champions League position. Fulham meanwhile are still in the bottom 3 however still believe they are in with a chance of staying up (EPL's top division) with over 10 matches remaining.
The relegation battle continues with 10 teams all within 8 points of each other. The weekend before saw West Ham continue their amazing form, with a brace from Kevin Nolan as they defeated Aston Villa 2-0 away in Birmingham.
Crystal Palace also continued their impressive form with a 3-1 win at home to West Brom. Hull took 3 priceless points away at Sunderland whilst Swansea won the Welsh derby 3-0 to sink Cardiff into the relegation places. Meanwhile Southampton hosted Stoke City at St Mary's and had an entertaining 2-2 draw.
The midweek relegation battle saw Aston Villa and Cardiff hold an entertaining scoreless draw. Stoke and Swansea also drew and West Ham won 2-0 at home to a disappointing Norwich City. Southampton won away 2-0 at Hull City Whilst both Everton v Crystal Palace and Manchester City v Sunderland were both washed out with the furious weather in the North of England.
In the European battle Spurs won 4-0 away at Newcastle in a match that was crucial for both teams. The League is proving to be the closest in years with all teams involved in either a relegation scrap or a potential much awaiting piece of silverware.
