After a series of operating systems, including Android and Chrome OS, Google Inc is in the process to develop a standalone operating system (OS) that will have no connection with the earlier launched operating systems.
The new project has been named as 'Fuchsia', which is a flower name. It has been reported that the project has been illustrated as a combination of "Pink with Purple" resulting in 'Fuchsia'.
The new OS is being developed as a completely new system, which is not a resultant from the Linux kernel, which has powered Google hardware for decades. Interestingly, the latest OS is designed in such a manner that it will work in almost everything including smart home appliances, TV, smartphones and many others.
It has been stated that the Linux kernel system is not perfect for all situations especially in the device case of embedded gadgets including GPS units or car dashboards, full-size desktop systems, as Linux affects the performance of the device and such other problems.
At present, there is a huge network of operating systems made specifically for embedded devices, and with 'Fuchsia', Google is also trying to come up with one of its own.
Fuchsia uses a custom kernel known as Magenta, which is based on a project designed for embedded systems 'LittleKernel', mainly for IoT units. Similar with Android and Linux, the Magenta kernel backs the bigger Fuchsia OS. Magenta is being programmed as a challenger to commercial embedded operating systems like ThreadX or FreeRTOS.
The search giant, Google, is applying Dart for the OS as the programming code and using Flutter for its user interface. Fuchsia will be expected to support 32-bit and 64-bit ARM CPUs, along with 64-bit PC or computer systems.
Android Police has reported Google is planning to replace Chrome OS and Android with it new OS Fuchsia. However, the buzz surrounding Google is that out of many of its secret projects, it might also be one, which in actual fact may never make it to consumers.
