Hillsong church is continuing to spread the Gospel 'to the ends of the earth', with United's single "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)" garnering RIAA platinum status last month and now a Hillsong movie is on its way.
The Australian group ended 2014 with plenty of awards and this year is looking just as promising. For 2015, Hillsong United will star in a Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment movie called "Let Hope Rise – the Hillsong Movie" that is scheduled for a nationwide April release. If that's not enough for their countless followers to look forward to, the consistent chart-topping musicians will also be releasing another much anticipated full-length studio album this year.
"The last couple of years have been an expectation-busting-juggernaut of pure grace and madness," said Joel Houston, the group's Creative Director and Worship Leader.
"Hillsong – Let Hope Rise" traces back the impressive journey of the group. What started out as a humble youth group band at Hillsong Church in Sydney is now a globally successful brand. Hillsong United easily sells out stadium concerts in several countries spanning various continents.
The much awaited film project is directed by Michael John Warren who has worked with hiphop mogul Jay-Z. Producing the film are Matthew Weaver from MediaWeaver Entertainment and Jonathan Bock from Grace Hill Media.
Given the fame of Hillsong United - there is an approximation of 30 million worshipers singing Hillsong worship tracks every week - bigwigs at Alcon Entertainment Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson are just as excited as any die-hard fan.
Kosove and Johnson released the statement:
"In terms of reach, Hillsong United is one of the biggest bands out there, Christian or otherwise. But at their core, they're just a group of unassuming individuals impacting the world with their music. We're thrilled to be part of bringing their extraordinary story to the big screen."
