The winger produced one of the great acrobatic feats in rugby league history against Manly following a deft Benji Marshall kick. Yet the highs of last night were put aside today when he joined Keith Galloway and Liam Fulton in getting a haircut and supporting Wesley's Haircut for homelessness.
The trio were trimmed up by a team of Just Cuts hairdressers to promote the event to be held in Martin Place Sydney on 6 August
On that day a team of 10 Just Cuts hairdressers will attempt to break the official Guinness World Record for the number of haircuts by a team in just eight hours.
West Tigers forward Keith Galloway is encouraging his team mates, Wests Tigers fans and the public to register for a haircut on the day to ensure that more than 360 heads of hair are cut.
"Homelessness is a big issue and the number of children and families who are homeless is increasing," Galloway said.
"The statistics are alarming and we need to do some practical things to address the problem.
"I'm encouraging my team mates and the community to get to Martin Place and get a haircut on 6 August."
The Wesley Mission event aims to raise funds for some of Australia's most disadvantaged during National Homeless Persons' Week (5-12 August).
Sydneysiders can participate by registering on-line for a haircut at wesleymission.org.au or by attending the event on the day. Those who register on-line will be assured of a preferred time and receive a personalised certificate of appreciation.
The CEO of Wesley Mission the Rev Dr Keith Garner said homeless people were often sensitive about their appearance and were frequently stigmatised and marginalised as a result.
"Apart from raising funds for Wesley Mission's homeless services, the event will also build community understanding about the relationship between a healthy, positive self-image and the current experience of homeless people," Dr Garner said.
"We are delighted that Wests Tigers' Keith Galloway, Liam Fulton and David Nofoaluma have shown their support for such an important cause. Around 100,000 Australians are homeless and 17 per cent of all homeless people are under the age of 12."
CEO and Founder of Just Cuts, Denis McFadden, said he was delighted that Just Cuts could be involved in such an epic event.
"While Just Cuts is supplying the hairdressers and their skills, it is the plight of homeless and marginalised people which is the real story of the day," Mr McFadden said. "Get involved, get a haircut and help the homeless."
Just Cuts salons across Australia will also be accepting cash donations until 13 August. Schwarzkopf Professional hair care experts will independently judge each haircut to ensure it meets the judging criteria.
Schwarzkopf Marketing Director, David Boyd said: "As adjudicators of the world record attempt, Schwarzkopf Professional is not only focused on the haircuts but also on the issue that drives the event. Homelessness in Australia is a serious issue, and the event is a great show of both style and substance in trying to make a difference to the lives of those affected."
