It isn't easy being Wolverine, and it certainly isn't easier getting his well-defined body!
David Kingsbury, Hugh Jackman's trainer for his Wolverine role talked to Daily Mail Australia and shared how he got the Aussie actor all buffed up for his role.
"I am a huge believer in the big lifts in the gym with my favourite exercises being the deadlift, front squat, bench, pull up and military press," shared Kingsbury.
He explained that the said movements, along with a few other accessory lifts, are key for strength and muscle growth.
Kingsbury also recommends high intensity interval training, like sprinting and certain circuit workouts. "It's very effective as a training tool for staying in shape long term. It will help boost metabolism, encourage muscle maintenance and burn fat post workout," he said.
But the really difficult part about body building is actually maintaining good nutrition. "First off, not all weight is the same,' he said. 'When trying to lose weight, you want to make sure you are not losing muscle. If you lose muscle, you slow down your metabolic rate and long term will be worse off."
His advice is to form a fitness plan that includes some heavy resistance training in order to avoid muscle loss. "Often if a fat loss plan is done really well and muscle can be maintained there will not actually be a drastic drop in body weight as muscle is heavier than fat' he revealed," he said.
Kingsbury also shared that consuming high-protein food helps fat loss because it "keeps you feeling fuller for longer."
