Next Keyboard, or also called "perfect" keyboard, is an app that wishes to be offered to users of Apple's iPhone.
The initiation reached and exceeded $10,000 initial funding targets in two days time. The company collected $14,072 with remaining 40 days of campaign.
Robleh Jama, founder of Toronto-based, five person app studio who created the Next Keyboard, stated that reaching $10,000 was significant but creating quality app is a long way to go.
"This is our most expensive project and we put in far more than $10,000, so we are definitely still looking for more backers. Our new goal is to become the highest-funded app on Kickstarter," Jama believed.
The Launching of Apple's iOS 8 last September motivated the invention of some third-party keyboard apps. Customized keyboards were not possible previously because access on Apple's stock keyboard had been closed off. According to Jama, majority of the launched keyboard now are only replicas of the keyboard of android phone. Next keyboard is built solely from the iOS' viewpoint.
"From day one we have been talking to iOS users online, on Reddit, to see what they want changed," Jama said. "We have a better understanding of issues that are specific to iOS and what's more in line with how Apple does things." Making their user happy is not only their end goal but also creating a product in which Apple can support and get behind.
The highlights of the app are, swipe texting, smart cursor wipe, suggested words and emojis, Information Security, and customizable keyboard.
Jama thought that as of this juncture, 5,000 users had an early access, through sneak peak, to Next Keyboard. The availability of the app on the market will be on February 2015. The price of the app is not yet finalized.
"We want to solve problems using apps," Jama believed. "To make lives better in small and meaningful ways. That's our philosophy."
