An Islamic State member has told UK women that speed-dating meetings are part of the bride-recruitment process.
Through an article published on a personal Tumblr page by British IS fighter Abu Qa'qa al-Britani, who currently resides in the IS stronghold of Raqqa, told women considering a trip to Syria to get married that the process involved five minutes of speaking to each other and are then "given the ability to see one another if they both desire to do so".
"Then they have the choice to marry or refuse one another and Allah knows best," he added.
The IS militant explained that his organisation would handle all monetary and accommodation matters for women who travel to Syria, while a person going by the name "Umm Layth" recommended that prospective IS wives should take items such as clothes, books and cosmetics with them, as there is "absolutely nothing" there.
The dissemination of the IS bride-related information was posted after reports emerged in 2014 of women, including people from Australia, heading to the Middle East for the specific purpose of marrying an IS fighter.
Human rights organisation Amnesty International also published a report, titled "Escape from hell - Torture, sexual slavery in Islamic State captivity in Iraq", in December 2014, in which it presented information on the "hundreds and possibly thousands of Yezidi women and girls who have been forcibly married, 'sold' or given as 'gifts' to IS fighters or their supporters."
