|PIC1|SIM was once known as the Sudan Interior Mission, but with its expansion throughout the world, it shortened its formal name thirty years ago to its acronym. As a historic faith financed mission SIM missionaries raise their own financial support through individuals and supportive congregations.
M V Tronson's initial interest in SIM last year was when he considered that he and his wife Delma might be able to make a contribution to their mission program in the area of 'sports ministry' in Peru, South America.
Since Mark and Delma Tronson will be in Dallas Texas receiving an international award for their 27 years of sports ministry on the 16th February 2009, they considered they might be available to visit SIM Peru.
Consequently, via a series of SIM contacts in Australia, he met Queensland's director, Steve Bazal, and learned that SIM Peru was indeed keen to develop sports ministry.
"This process all took time, but eventually I made contact, with Helen Heron, SIM Peru director, culminating in live Skype communication," M V Tronson noted.
In these conversations, Helen Heron explained that SIM Peru was planning to incorporate the SIM sports ministry program 'Sports Friends' in 2010 and had a couple coming from the USA to initiate it.
"Although Helen welcomed any visit by Delma and me, she thought a way smarter move would be to link in with Brian Davison who is based in the USA, and is the founder of the SIM Sports Friends ministry program," M V Tronson explained.
"The providence of God in all this has led to a three way conversation between Brian Davison in the USA, Helen Heron in Peru and us in Australia, which has left me with a thirst to discover first hand more of the 'Sports Friends' ministry program," M V Tronson reported.
He has since incorporated in his Well-Being Australia Country Town Tour ministry communications the 'Sports Friends' web site in order that rural and regional congregations might benefit from some ideas.

"In addition to Well-Being Australia's sports ministry program, although recognised internationally such as our 'respite ministry', other possibilities and fresh ideas must always be sought after, it's the life-flow of all Christian ministry," M V Tronson noted.
