Well she wasn't the Queen B for nothing—Leighton Meester and Gossip Girl alum has recently become vocal about her views on feminism.
In fact, she even authored an op-ed for The Huffington Post titled: "I'm Not a Tart: The Feminist Subtext of Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men." So when the actress who famously portrayed Upper East Side Queen B, Blair Waldorf in the hit TV show Gossip Girl was asked point blank if she was a feminist, Meester didn't have to even think about the answer.
"Yeah, it shouldn't be some sort of sensational news item. It's something that I think all people should say about themselves," she declares.
Feminism has been such a prevalent topic in recent months, with numerous Hollywood actresses, musicians and various personalities giving their two cents on the matter. And each statement varies. For instance, Beyonce who has often cited herself as a feminist was criticised and referred to as 'Feminist-lite' by legendary musician, Annie Lennox. More recently was Kaley Cuoco-Sweetings declaration that she wasn't one [a feminist] on the premise that she loves 'serving' her husband.
Outside of the contentious issue of feminism, Meester also took the time to respond to questions that has lingered in many Gossip Girl fan's minds—are fans ever going to see the Upper East Siders come together for a reunion? Unfortunately, Meester was pretty definitive about this one to, and simply answered, "nope."
