Whether people are believers or not, love probably is the strongest and affectionate desire.
It raises the emotional and mental state of a person to be satisfied with life. When people say what they love about us, we feel valued and fulfilled in living our lives.
For example, my mentor told one of the prayer groups at the church that I am valuable to the church because of my Christian writing. I was more motivated to continue on doing Christian writing.
Therefore, everybody, who encourages and builds up those who are in need, can be a healer of some way.
When doing life alone, we feel discouraged and find life boring to live a lot of times. Because of this, we do not have any strength to live a fulfilled and abundant life. We become hopeless and want to quit a life right away.
Christianity
Other than doing life with communities, there is a God, who is in the universe, and who desires to be with us throughout lives.
God is our Heavenly Father who has loved us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to sacrifice Himself for us (John chapter 3, verse 16)
The reason that God had to sacrifice His beloved Son for us is that He wants us to journey and spend eternity with Him. In fact, Matthew chapter 1, verse 18-25, tells us that Jesus was named as Immanuel, which means “God with us.”
Furthermore, after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, God has poured His Spirit into those who wish to journey life with Him through faith in Jesus Christ. (John chapter 16, verses 7-15)
Many times in the Bible, God is mentioned who says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Loving God
In Mark chapter 12, verses 28-31, when Jesus was asked which commandments is the most important one, He said that we have to love God first before loving others.
How could we not love someone who willingly sacrificed His beloved Son for us? More than that, God is willing to give anything we need for the glory of God (Romans chapter 8, verses 31-32).
Jesus Christ is the Saviour and Lord. He has transferred our souls from death to life (John chapter 5, verse 24). Moreover, He is interceding for us all the time after His resurrection. (Romans chapter 8, verse 34)
In the Bible, Jesus is mentioned as God, who has omnipresence, omnipotence and omniscience attributes.
The omnipresence of God refers that God has His own presence everywhere at the same time. The omnipotence of God indicates that God has unlimited power and the omniscience of God demonstrates that God has knowledge that is beyond human’s comprehension.
“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews chapter 4, verse 13)
Although I had been in the religious side and pleasing people instead of God, such as going to church and volunteering to please them for a while, God had never given up on me.
When I was in one of the potlucks at the connect group in New York, I was prompted and convicted by the Spirit of God so much that I had to start believing Christ properly. I believe this was because He knew that I believed Christ in a wrong way.
Now, I cannot even imagine how my life could be without Christ (Galatians chapter 2, verses 19-21)
Loving others
Since God has loved us so much, He commands us to do the same. (1 John chapter 4, verses 7-21)
Since God is described as Love, and loving others is one of His greatest commandments, the love of God is probably the best motivation as well. (1 Corinthians chapter 13)
Although Jesus Christ has been a true Healer of our souls, God uses His people to be healers through spreading of the love of God.
When I get discouraged, I always talk to my mentor about it. She often has been there with me face to face or through other contacting methods, finding solutions together as she spreads the love of God.
However, what an interesting thing to me is that the Holy Spirit immediately or later prompts me the same things as what my mentor told me. Because of these, my soul has been truly healed many times.
As she is considered as my spiritual role model, one thing I have to learn more from her is about spreading of the love of God to the point that it heals people.
Just like what Jesus did, “our job is to love others without stopping to inquire whether or not they are worthy.” (Thomas Merton)
Praise for God’s unconditional love!
