It was all about the crazy moments in the latest Revenge episode "Madness," and there is no better moment for the season's resident bad guy Malcolm Black to make his first appearance.
The show started with a flashback scene to 2003, featuring the events of David Clarke's "death." He was stabbed by former CTU Director Bill Buchanan during a prison riot, under the orders of Conrad Grayson. However, Malcolm was in on the plan to assassinate David all along, so he ordered his men to rush David to the hospital. Needless to say, he survived the attack.
Now, David is hell-bent in killing Victoria Grayson, Conrad's wife. He lures her into the lighthouse under pretense of talking about their relationship. He plans on pushing Victoria over and making it look like a suicide. However, she was saved by Emily Clark, David's daughter, since she talked him out of his plan and convinces him to get out of the Hamptons.
Emily and Victoria are at odds with each other and Emily believes that a sudden death would be too lenient and merciful for Victoria. Her plan is to make Victoria lose everything she holds dear and let her live through her loss.
The Clarkes' plan is temporarily suspended when Malcolm finally enters the scene. Earlier, Malcolm visited Jack and inquires about his daughter's whereabouts. Jack is unable to convince Malcolm that he doesn't know anything about Kate's disappearance so Malcolm threatens Jack's family. A visibly worried Jack then calls David about it.
David instructs Jack to keep his cool and stay away from Emily, and he begins to construct a trap for Malcolm. He then lies to Malcolm that his daughter is still alive, and told him that they should meet up. However, the only person Malcolm will meet in the trap is David who intends to kill him.
Again, someone tries to talk David out of his plan but Jack was unsuccessful. "Conrad ruined my life, but Malcolm, he damned my soul to hell," David told Jack. David once wrote to Amanda from prison, but when Malcolm found out, he gave David the option of either killing a security guard or having him kill Amanda. David chose the former and the decision has haunted him ever since.
But Jack just won't sit quietly and let David commit another crime. So he sought police intervention, and Malcolm was arrested. He was turned over to the FBI, who later let him go due to insufficient evidence.
Meanwhile, Emily has Louise Ellis' drugs tested, and she discovered that her "Xanax" has been compounded with an anti-malaria drug that causes paranoid delusions and aggression.
The episode ended with a shocker, since Emily and Victoria meet at the lighthouse and engage in a verbal altercation. They were later shot with tranquilizer darts by Malcolm, who has finally discovered that his daughter is actually still alive.
