Manchester United meanwhile continued their dominance with a 5-0 thumping of Birmingham. Berbatov was the hero with a hat-trick as Birmingham was labelled Amateur by their own manager. United are now 2 points clear at the top of the league and with games in hand. Birmingham needs to improve as they are now 1 point and 1 place outside the relegation area.
Arsenal were again to strong, this time at home to Wigan. The gunners are looking like worthy championship contenders and continued their great run with a 3-0 win at the Emirates. Anther weekend hat-trick happened as Van Persie found his goal scoring form. Wigan now have a mid-week must win at home to Aston Villa and need to find points soon as they sit uncomfortably in 18th position occupying the 3rd relegation spot.
Saturday also saw Liverpool manager Daglish get his first win in charge as Torres scored a brace to see off Wolves 3-0. Sunderland were too strong away at Blackpool with a Richardson double to record a 2-1 victory. Newcastle and Tottenham shared the points as Lennon rescued a point for spurs in injury time whilst Everton hosted West Ham in a pulsating 2-2 draw. Fulham also moved away from the relegation positions with a hard fought 2-0 win over Stock City at the Cottage.
