How seriously can we take such news-casts (Television News, News Radio, On-Line News, News Print) – a major terror attack surrounding the US election. My husband doesn't take what I write about this too seriously. But my mum is travelling to New York on Saturday 5 November. I'm concerned.
Okay, I belong to a Christian tradition and worship in an indigenous church where the prophetic realm has a certain sway. As such, in my realm there have been warnings going out in this prophetic realm.
Many of the warnings I've heard on news-casts (this is not hidden from any of us) are regarding a "sudden event" and an event "worse than 9/11". The coming event is said to stop the election process, or have many in America crying foul when the election does not go as planned (watch the television news).
Other people have confirmed that New York will be attacked first. These were two different testimonies I have seen:
"For the past few years the Holy Spirit has been showing me 5 cities that would experience destruction from attacks or natural disasters. NYC, DC, Miami, LA and SF and that they would occur in that order."
"My brother 12 years ago saw the map and there were 5 cities he saw destroyed. New York City, New Orleans, Miami, Seattle then the finger went across LA and he heard, no they are the city of angels and the finger preceded to San Francisco."
I acknowledge these are all American cities and therefore plays into that genre of American prophetic-ism. But that doesn't necessarily make them mistaken, maybe a little doubtful.
Nuclear events from ISIS
This sudden event (against one or all those cities) is likely to be a nuclear weapon, some of the prophetic has seen a missile. Patricia Green, who is one making such announcements, (whose pedigree I cannot say) 'hints' towards the first of the judgements upon America being that this missile, people have seen with this word from the Lord:
"Look to the skies, and you will see the first devastation.
Look to the seas, and you will see the next devastation.
Look to the earth, and you will see the third devastation.
I, the Lord of the Heavens, the earth, and beneath the earth have spoken."
If this proclamation was to come to pass, it sounds to me like a missile, tsunami and earthquake (one, or all three combined). Others I have read have said this attack is likely to come from ISIS, which has talked up such threats for a number of years and want to show the world what they're capable of - although the reality is they are likely to lose their base of Mosul very shortly.
Don't discount all prophecy
I'll say right now that I am not into divination. I don't believe that Christians should see astrologers or palm readers or any of the powers of darkness for future events. I do believe that there are well-meaning people who have been confused in where their messages come from, thinking them to be of God when they are not.
However, with every counterfeit there must be a legitimate working of God and I do believe that there is a legitimate gift of prophecy as an outworking of the Holy Spirit and we have to discern what the true messages from God are.
Tentative dates have been given
While I don't believe in dates connected with prophecy, I do keep an open mind if there is confirmation on such dates by different people hearing from God (in their uncorroborated personal testimonies). News-casts also seem to have it on some authority with such imminent warnings.
News-casts in recent months have been centreing around the Presidential election – that means from about 27 October to 4 November. Everyone is aware this is the election period. The American economy has been given numerous fiscal warnings in any case for this same period. None of this is new.
In my circle of contacts, others have not been given these dates but appear to be saying something may happen just before the election – at least the news-casts are on par. US national security is on high alert, and nothing unusual about that at election time, especially this year.
When the Olympics came to Los Angeles in 1984 and Atlanta in 1996, the locals en-masse left town to get away from the city and traffic chaos. The same is being said for New York at this time, again there is nothing unusual about this, apart from both the news-casts and these prophetic comments are on par.
I am fully aware, such warning are likely to fall on deaf ears. The Old Testament is full of prophets warnings of judgement if our nations do not repent and we know those outcomes. Scoffers and mockers are rife in this present age too. We are told in the New Testament most will not heed the call to repent and turn to God and follow Him.
In my Christian tradition, the call is to repent and take heed – prophets have been speaking (let alone the news-casts).
