After the first three rounds it seemed the Storm, Dragons and Titans would continue to break from the pack and set up a considerable lead over the others. However, this has failed to materialise and now, over a quarter of the way through the season, no team has shown consistency in performance or the talent needed to win a premiership.
All of this makes it difficult for amateur tipsters in office-tipping-competitions around the country – but then again, the author would say that given his efforts last week in picking just 2 winners from the 8 matches in round 6. He recommends that for the next round you consider finding someone else to get your tips from until his radar is back in tune.
Round 7 will be interesting with all eyes on refereeing standards following the sacking of two senior referees. Under new refereeing arrangements revealed yesterday, the two referee system is all but out the window with one referee given a dominate roll leaving the other as not much more than a spectator.
Strangely, this arrangement isn't across the board with only half the matches going on to the new system. Furthermore we have all been stunned by the Melbourne Storm salary cap situation.
