According to Gene Munster, Piper Jaffray analyst, revealing more information about the new smartwatch of Apple is expected to create greater attention among possible buyers.
Munster recently surveyed the owners of iPhone in the United States and among 968 owners, only 7 percent are planning to buy the Apple Watch. The number decreased from 10 percent in September 2013 when it was unveiled and 8 percent last September, 2014.
Munster noted that during the launched of iPhone 6 three months ago, 34 percent out of 386 customers queuing to purchase the new phone were interested to purchase the Apple Watch. However, analysts noted them as early adopters and not representing the entire iPhone community.
Munster stated "As we get closer to the launch of the Watch, which we expect in the Jun-15 quarter, we believe that Apple will begin to highlight more functionality of the product as well as third-party apps, which we note were what eventually helped the iPhone accelerate in adoption."
Apple presented the new smartwatch, together with iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6 last September 09. Watch's certain features was demonstrated by the company. More details about the feature must be revealed to the possible buyer before they commit on buying the gadget. Apple faces competitions from Samsung, Microsoft, and other major brands. Apple needs to explain what features of Apple Watch possess that distinguishes it with other brands available in the market.
Even if Apple disclosed additional details, he expects "first-year sales to be modest."
Apple is silent regarding the exact date of the launching of its watch. They did mention in the spring of 2015. Assuming that the watch will be out in the market on the 2nd quarter which ends in June, Munster projected that the sales will be 8 million units in 2015 and 10 million on 2016. Overall, Munster anticipated that will add approximately 2 percent to the 2015 revenue of Apple.
