Gamers on laptops will be pleased to hear that Nvidia has unveiled three mobile GPUs which have the capacity of performing tasks close to desktops.
The announcement which came on Monday is reportedly set to change the way gaming laptops function as Nvidia will merge desktop graphics chips and laptops. Built on the company's new Pascal based architecture, the new GeForce GTX 1080, GeForce GTX 1070, and GeForce GTX 1060 will enhance performance over 9-series GPUs.
According to the company, the mobile 10-series will power new 120Hz G-sync panels along with 30% more battery life and overclocking capacity which could reach over 300MHz, and also that the performance of the three GPUs will be within 10 percent of a desktop GPU.
So what makes the mobile GPUs stronger than others? With a stupendous 2,560 CUDA cores, the GeForce GTX 1080 will get 8GB of GDDR5x RAM and 1,733MHz.b of boost clock speed. GTX 1070 has 2,048 cores and a boost clock of 1,645MHz along with 8GB RAM. It has vanilla GDDR5 flavor. The last one called GeForce GTX 1060 has 1,280 CUDA cores, 6GB of GDDR5, and a boost clock speed of 1,670MHz.
It is presumed that GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 GPUs will boost bigger laptops while GeForce GTX 1060 will power up light-weight laptops. The estimated pricing for the GeForce GTX 1060 laptop comes with a big price tag of $1,300, but it is said to be worth the performance.
