The first Overwatch international tournament has finally settled on its first eight qualifying teams.
The teams who fought it out to reach the Atlantic Showdown quarterfinals are Europe's Misfits, Reunited, Creation Esports and Rogue. North America's contenders include Team EnVyUs, Cloud9, Fnatic and Team SoloMid.
These qualified teams are now going to fight it out at Gamescom in Germany, on August 20th and 21st for Atlantic Showdown's $100,000 prize money.
Gamescom is a trade fair for video games held annually at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
These eight teams played commendably through roster changes, moving between organizations and a major patch that changed Overwatch's Meta.
The finals of the tournament in Germany is dubbed to be more interesting and nerve-wraking, as the eight teams will be divided into brackets based on their region during the play-offs.
This means that the top North American team will end up facing the top European team in the grand finals.
There is a possibility of single elimination, best-of-five matches in the finals, though ESL has not commented on the format of the matches yet.
The much-awaited tournament started in July where ESL held four weekly qualifiers for each region. A lot of gamers along with their teams were pitted against one another, where the top four placing teams each week reached the finals qualifiers respectively.
Between Monday and Thursday, the North American and European brackets got their 16 final qualifier teams.
