There is more to the Paddington movie than just a cute bear in a raincot, said Australian actress Nicole Kidman.
In fact, she said, the movie shares a very important lesson.
"That it actually had something to say definitely made it more appealing," Kidman told film critic Garry Maddox. "It's about, we embrace strangers and people with cultural differences - and that's an important message right now, particularly for young people."
Paddington is a movie about a lovable bear who travels to London via a ship after his home in the Peruvian jungle was destroyed by an earthquake. As a refugee, he had to rely on the kindness of strangers to survive the urban setting.
And despite her role (Kidman plays Millicent Clyde - a taxidermist who plans to stuff Paddington), Kidman strongly believes that the movie's theme of kidness, especially towards those from different cultures, will resonate to children.
"It's an important thing to be constantly reminding our children: be kind, take care of each other," she said.
