A gay Christian promoting his new book called It's Life Jim sent an e-mail to around 400 churches in Auckland, only to receive no reply and a singular scathing e-mail from a pastor of Westcity Bible Baptist Church telling him to go commit suicide.
The book written by Jim Marjoram promotes gay-friendly religion and chronicles his struggles as a gay Christian. Most churches have decided to stay silent regarding the matter, but not Pastor Logan Robertson.
"We are not interested in your filthy lifestyle or book," wrote Robertson. He mentioned Bible verses from Romans 1 and 2 Peter 2:12. The pastor said that the verses teach people that "God has rejected homos and they are worthy of death" and that people like Marjoram are "vile, strange, reprobate, filth, sodomite, natural brute beasts, made to be taken or destroyed."
"You cannot be saved. I pray that you will commit suicide, you filthy child molesting fag," Robertson wrote.
Marjoram took this reply to his Facebook page, and it was also posted on Reddit. The author said that Robertson's reply really stung, especially since he entertained thoughts of suicide before. He added that he feels no hatred towards Robertson.
Despite heavy criticism, Robertson stands firm on his beliefs. He said he does not regret that his reply and stresses that the Bible condemns gay lifestyles.
