The Jesus Racing V8 Ute, which is usually seen on race tracks running door handle to door handle in the Auto One V8 Utes Series, has "gone feral", well on their spare race ute with a complete makeover which includes a large illuminated chrome cross and it is guaranteed to attract attention. Team owner and driver Andrew "Fishtail" Fisher says it's all about interacting with the community,
"Seeing a racing ute with Jesus in big letters down the side taking part in demonstrations like the circle work is not what people expect to see at the Ute Muster. We're going there to meet other ute owners and the public and challenge their paradigm of what someone who believes in Jesus is like. After all, Jesus was a carpenter and if he was here today I'm sure he would turn up in a ute!"
"It's our third trip to the ute muster and we thought it was time to bring out the big guns and bring along the a real race car" continued Fisher.
This ute was designed to reach speeds of 250 kilometres per hour on a race track but Andrew will be giving it his all on the dusty paddocks of Deniliquin with wheel spinning power slides, figure 8's and doughnuts…..all in a controlled environment of course. The Deni Ute Muster is in the Guinness Book of Records for the biggest gathering of utes in the world and this year approximately 10,000 utes are expected to converge on the small country town. As soon as the event is over Fishtail is on his way to Mt Panorama, Bathurst, to compete in the next round of the V8 Ute Series (in his other ute!)
