Manchester United travelled to the US to start their campaign and had some good results along the way. They beat Philadelphia Union and MLS All-Stars however had a shock 2-1 loss at the hands of Kansas City Wizards. They finish off with a Friendly between League of Ireland X1 before they head home to play the Community Shield against Chelsea.
Chelsea have had a mixed start to their pre season games with only 1 win in 4. They beat Crystal Palace in their first friendly of the season however have lost the last 3. Man City have also started badly with 3 defeats and a draw, however the Calabar of the opposition was a lot stronger then most with the last a 3-0 loss to European Winners Inter Milan.
Arsenal have won 4 of their 5 pre season matches. They defeated Celtic and settled for a 1-1 draw with AC Milan. Liverpool have had some mixed results with a draw, a win and 2 losses. Spurs also have been in the pre season spirit with 5 games to date.
With only 10 days till the season begins, most clubs are finalising their selections and plans for the upcoming season. The Charity Shield is on Saturday and marks the start of the new season. It is played the weekend before every premiership season and is traditionally between the FA Cup winners and the Premiership winners. However with Chelsea winning the FA Cup and the Premiership, it was down to the Carling Cup winners which happened to be Manchester United.
