In a time of uncertainty, it’s easy to be overcome by anxiety.
When all control is taken from you, it feels like you’ve got nothing to hold onto.
We’re all affected by the global situation, in miniscule and major ways. As a believer, I remind myself daily of the words of Jesus and of the peace he has offered us.
I acknowledge the great weight of the unknown and I give it to Jesus. I drop it at His feet. He’s the only one strong enough to carry it anyway.
What do we do?
Let’s use this weird time as inspiration.
Let’s make beautiful things and be kind to one another.
Let’s sit and listen to God’s voice and be thankful for every moment we have.
Some art I created in this time of madness is below. It’s funny what can happen when we finally have a moment to think…
No. 29 - Quarantine Ramblings
A pandemic coursing through the world right now.
Must I mention it?
Everything is different.
Friends losing jobs - I could lose mine.
How do you handle not being able to buy toilet paper?
How do you cope when you're confined to your tiny, 2 room apartment?
My routine, knocked off its feet without warning
My plans taken like prisoners of war
Everything is the same and yet everything is different
It's so disconcerting, I don't really know how to write a poem about it...
"I don't care about getting sick at all,
It's just a flu"
But I don't want to be the one to lead another to their death,
to give it to the vulnerable, much less lucky one
who goes grocery shopping holding her breath and with tears in her eyes.
I sit here, in suspended animation, wondering what it's all for -
I realise,
with each letter I'm scraping,
just how long it's been since I've written like this.
How long it's been since I've had a moment to realise just how long it's been...
Is it the hysteria and unknown tearing through my world that brings my mind to stillness?
Is it always the failing and falling apart that inspires us to finally band together?
I do not discount the severity of the situation
In fact, I often feel fear looming
I hear its hopeless whispers and I can see it's tempting tongue
But Love held me in my nothingness before and Love will hold me in my nothingness once again
The Living Promise is forever our fortress and our friend
Peace is rewiring our minds and teaching us it's voice
Hope is reviving our hearts and reminding us of choice
Let us not forget that we have the very Source of Light and Good as our God and Giver and Guide
Earth-maker and Ever-faithful promised to provide
We acknowledge our struggle and know He does too
We choose to choose Him and remain covered by truth
Now this isn't really a poem...
It's more a sample of some spinning thoughts
Written as the roof slides off and the walls melt away
And as the situation changes day by day.
Now all that's left is what's grasped between my fragile fingers;
My pen and My Love.
That's all that really matters anyway.
I think I'm going to be okay.
Hey, our Love will make us okay.
