In the first of several national launch events leading up to the doorknock on 19 - 20 May, today's event will kick off the Red Shield Appeal with a luncheon at Sydney's Four Seasons Hotel. The event is expected to be attended by around 500 of Sydney's business leaders, with Coca Cola Amatil's Director of Media and Public Affairs, Sally Loane, conducting a special interview for guests with Mr Leigh Clifford, AO, Chairman of Qantas Airways.
Mr Clifford says he is honoured to support The Salvation Army.
"I have always had a great respect for the work of the Salvos and how they are always there to lend a helping hand to people and the community no matter what the circumstance. As chairman of Qantas, I am proud to get behind the Salvos and would encourage others to do the same," Mr Clifford said.
The Red Shield Appeal which includes the Sydney launch aims to raise $81.5 million nationally through a business appeal, direct mail campaign, and the doorknock campaign on 19 - 20 May.
Stephen Conry, CEO of Jones Lang LaSalle, the major National Sponsor of the Red Shield Appeal launch says the company is privileged to support The Salvation Army.
"Jones Lang LaSalle is humbled and proud to support the outstanding work of The Salvation Army through our sponsorship of the Red Shield Appeal launch events around Australia.
"During these times of economic uncertainty and change, it is reassuring to know that The Salvation Army is there to lend a hand to those who need support," said Mr Conry.
