Samsung has launched its latest version of their popular "phablet" device, the Galaxy Note 7 with a totally new design, packed with fresh and enhanced features.
Despite being 0.3mm thicker than its predecessor the Note 5, the laetst device has other notable improvements like IP68 certification that proves the device to be a dust and water-resistant gadget.
On August 2, Samsung, at its Galaxy Note Unpacked 2016 event, also unveiled the new Gear VR, a virtual reality headset featuring a specific home button as well as giving an up to 101-degree field of view. Both devices will be available in the market from August 19. However, the Galaxy Note 7 will be available in the UK on September 2.
The company also disclosed global pricing of its 360-degree camera 'the Gear 360', which will retail at US $350. Previously, Samsung had only announced pricing of the camera for Korea.
The latest Gear VR comes with USB Type-C and Micro USB port to connect to a wide range of devices including the Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6 Edge+.
It also sports an accelerometer, proximity sensors, and gyro meter. The gadget weighs 345 grams and has 207.8x122.5x98.6mm dimensions. It will be available in Blue Black colour.
A major feature of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is the iris scanner, which makes it the first smartphone from Samsung to introduce such a feature.
Like earlier Galaxy Note phones, the Note 7 features the S Pen stylus and features a Samsung Knox security suite added with biometric verification that includes both iris scanning and fingerprint scanner feature. It will run on the Android operating system, version 6.01 Marshmallow.
Other features which make the Galaxy Note 7 different from the Note 5 include curved screens, Gorilla Glass 5 screen, water-resistant phone body and S Pen, MicroSD card slot (like the S7 phones), and availability in a new Coral Blue color.
