It's usually during or directly after I've spent time at the feet of the Lord praying or just waiting on the Lord, that I get words come to me, and in this case with a song titled "Here I am to Serve you Lord" there was obviously a time of reflecting on what my purpose is once we accept the Lord's call and join ourselves through baptism into his life.
So as we are called to follow the example of our Lord in obeying the Heavenly Father, we are also called to love the Heavenly Father with our heart, mind and soul, and love our neighbour as ourselves. Serving in Truth and Love.
As Bob Dylan was led to write the lyrics for the song "Gotta Serve Somebody" the question is who do we really serve??
This song has many references to what I have understood that we are called to serve the Lord with our life.
I hope you enjoy the song (Here I am to Serve you Lord) and I've provided a relevant scripture to consider.
Psalm 100
1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the lands! 2 Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!3 Know that the Lord is God! It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him, bless his name! 5 For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
