The fifth edition of the 'Single Person Approved by God' magazine goes deep into history - the secret Christian writings of Shakespeare, along with the history of flat earth myth and the archaeological proof of fifty biblical figures.
Lawrence Mykytiuk from the Biblical Archaeology Society confirms that they've discovered evidence for the existence of at least fifty biblical figures, evidence which backs-up the validity of others in the same genealogies.
Complete with tables and picture proofs, Lawrence Mykytiuk shows how we can be sure that inscriptions found relate to the specific person mentioned in scripture. The key is to be scrupulous with your identification. 'If there are three or more - but no less than three - identifying marks of the individual in the inscription that match the same three or more marks in the Bible, I consider that identification as good as certain.'
The truth about Shakespeare finally comes out
Dr Leland Ryken is the Shakespeare researcher and Professor of English at Wheaton College, who delves into the Christianity of the most famous literary master in history. It has been 400 years since the death of Shakespeare and still he is claimed to have a secular slant in his writing.
'We should call a moratorium on the entrenched bias of the secular academy in regard to Shakespeare's plays. University scholars simply assume that Shakespeare was as secular as they are.' And Dr Ryken should know, after all his research he says 'For me Shakespeare has become a treasured Christian writer.'
'Flat earth' and the not-so Christian heritage behind it
Jonathan Sarfati sets the record straight about the flat earth. 'The much-parroted flat-earth myth about him comes not from history but from the tales of Washington Irving
(1783–1859), The Life and Voyages of Christopher Columbus (1828).'
If you look at history, the flat earth is most certainly not a Christian idea as some have said. 'Then [the flat earth myth] was aggressively pushed in influential anti-Christian polemics by Draper and White.' A lot of people don't actually do the research and just repeat the same lies they've been taught. That's how this idea that Christianity had flat earth origins came about, not because of the facts.
SPAG magazine this quarter shows the importance of history in connection of Christianity and how we can rely on factual history instead of widely propagated assumptions in showing the truth of Christianity's role in shaping the past.
Improve yourself and improve the world around us
Lastly, SPAG magazine this quarter gives real advice on how to grow in the Lord: how to improve your prayer time, how to find happiness in understanding yourself and how to fight together for the causes that really matter.
Regarding causes that really matter, there is a feature on the group 'Setting the Badi Girls Free' on Facebook; how ordinary Australians decided to pool together $10 a month to help rescue sixteen Nepalese girls born at the bottom of the caste system out of sex slavery.
For the Single Person Approved by God (SPAG), it is important to know history and be up to date on what's going on in the world around us. That is the way to really show ourselves approved.
