Lydia Lassila won Gold in the Women's Freestyle Ski Aerials. Lassila, 28, became Australia's fifth-ever Winter Olympics gold medallist, joining Camplin, speedskater Steven Bradbury, moguls skier Dale Begg-Smith and snowboarder Torah Bright, who won the women's half-pipe title this Games in Vancouver.
Lydia Lassila blew her knee out in the 2006 Olympic final in Turin, making this victory all the sweeter and won the World Cup last year. Lydia had her husband with her while she said that she could only imagine the excitement of her parents in Melbourne.

Torah Bright in the snowboarding half-pipe event also won 'Gold'. Torah Bright was no first comer either to snowboarding, she was the favourite and displayed her true championship character with a come back performance after a disappointing first round.

But that is not all about Australia's Torah Bright. Torah Bright was the Opening Ceremony flag bearer for the Australian Winter Olympic Team in Vancouver and you may recall her comment at the time was that she hoped her arms would not get too tired.

Earlier Dale Begg-Smith had won a Silver Medal in the men's mogul, a former Canadian while some have thought he should have earned Gold.

If that was disappointing consider the Australian four man bobsleigh (bobsled) team. Two were injured in the two man bobsleigh effort and therefore when it came to the four man bobsleigh, the Australian team withdrew leaving the other two without having participated in Vancouver. Why weren't two reserves available like in other sports, where they call up players?

Lydia Lassila will now carry the Australian flag in the Vancouver Winter Olympic Closing Ceremony.
Flags are symbols and it is to this symbol that one of the best known anonymous Christian choruses is devoted:
"Joy is the flag flown high from the castle of my heart, from the castle of my heart, from the castle of the heart, for the King is in residence there. So let it fly in the sky and let the whole world know, let the whole world know, let the whole world know, so let it fly in the sky and let the whole world know, for the King is in residence there."
