He is one of the five young sports writers with his weekly article uploaded each Thursday in Christian Today Australia - on-line non-denominational Christian daily whose aim is to provide a Christian world view of daily news.
Jeremy Dover was interviewed on the Australian Missionary News IPTV by anchorwoman Rosie Timmins recently.
Jeremy Dover told Rosie Timmins that he grew up around the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Ipswich where he did his high schooling. He had always played sport and loved it but it wasn't until his university years was he able to channel his love of sport.
His undergraduate degree was in psychology and his major with a First Honours was in Sports Science, a study of human movement, the physiology of exercise the body and his interest in the mental aspects associated with sport.
Jeremy Dover told Rosie Timmins that his role in writing sports was initiated when Well-Being Australia chairman who initiated the Australian Missionary News IPTV Mark Tronson contacted him, who he's known for many years, and he warmly accepted the voluntary position.
He explained that this was another way in which he might spread the good news of Jesus Christ. This was a new medium, he was excited that this was part of a 'world first' movement, that with Christian news on the internet so mainstream now, sports was the next obvious step.
Asked by Rosie Timmins as to his calling to ministry, in that he and his wife Ruth and son Issac serve as the minister of the Bannockburn Presbyterian Church (near Geelong in Victoria), Jeremy Dover said that he felt the Lord had led him to serve in ministry of this nature as he loves preaching Jesus, and is excited by all forms of chaplaincy as its bringing Ministry to the community. He has recently earned a theological degree after several years of academic study.
Since that interview Jeremy Dover has become one of the Australian Missionary News IPTV anchormen and has already interviewed Tony Dunkerley (President Victorian Football Federation, former Assistant Australian Joeys Coach), Jono Brown (Youth Alpha) and Clayton Hinds (Sports Writer). Jeremy Dover has invited Dr Dr Murray Capill, principal of the Geelong Reformed Theological College who will preach from Isaiah 52, specifically the 7th verse, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
A key ingredient in Christian service Jeremy Dover explained is service in Christ by simply saying to the Lord, "I am yours to serve wherever and with whatever I am given and by faithful in to my uttermost in such endeavours.
The Bannockburn Presbyterian Church enquired of Jeremy Dover as to a fitting Ordination gift. Jeremy has commissioned a philosophical art work from Tronson du Coudray – the missionary painter – on the above text: "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
