NBC's popular show The Blacklist is all set to air on the September 22 this year. And with the new season so close, fans are excited about finding answers to the questions that have plagued them ever since the finale of season 3. One of the biggest mysteries that need to be cracked is the identity of Liz's father.
As Game & Guide recalls, Kirk revealed that he was her father last season. But followers of the show found it hard to believe. Kirk, as we all know, came across as a manipulative character whose motive in this sudden revelation was definitely questionable. So the big question is this – If Kirk isn't Liz's father, then who is?
A lot of bets have been placed on Raymond Reddington, dubbed Red on the show, since the hit series began. The character, portrayed by James Spader, is was speculated to be Liz's biological father.
In an interview with Digital Trends, the show's creator Jon Bokenkamp that Red is like a "chameleon" who's "always shifting and changing."
"We're getting closer and closer to understanding him, and the Cape May episode was a good example of that. But he's still somewhat of an enigma to us – and that is part of what makes the show fun."
The upcoming season will also feature Liz's mother Katarina Rostova. The role is portrayed by actress Lotte Verbeek. This has given rise to more speculation, some of which suggests that it would perhaps be Rostova who reveals to Liz the true identity of her father.
Season 4 will also focus on the rivalry between Red and Kirk, and the issue surrounding the identity of Liz's father will only add to the tension between the two rivals battling for her attention.
Bokenkamp also revealed that the new storylines will involve betrayals, and that there are going to be new Blacklisters who are strange, unique, and dangerous.
