It’s been over 2000 years since Jesus gave us the commission of going into “all the world” with the Gospel. Over the past centuries, we have seen many herosof faith take up this responsibility with a burning desire to see souls saved. The need for modern day missionaries cannot be overemphasised. As gross darkness captures the heart of men, we must become that light that will never stay under a bushel.
Missionary or Imposter
The great English preacher, Charles Spurgeon once said, “Every Christian is either a missionary or an imposter.” A missionary is someone sent on a mission, especially one sent to preach Christ in a foreign country. I believe the call to missions is not just to a select few but to all believers. We are all called to go into all the world. You may not be called to India like William Carey but certainly you are called to preach Christ wherever you are.
There are many who are waiting for a special call before they step out to a lost and dying world. What they do not know is that the call has been given over 2000 years ago. The moment you accepted Christ into your heart, you signed up to be part of God’s army. There is no civilian in God’s kingdom. We are all wrestling against powers that seeks to destroy men at all costs. We must all choose to become active soldiers in this ancient battle for the souls of men.
You may not be on the mission field somewhere in Iraq, India or China but you are God’s missionary in your office, school, street, family or wherever you may be. Let’s get out of our nice pews, we have been entrusted with a “great commission.”
The last day move of God
As the body of Christ step into higher dimensions of glory, I believe the last day move of God will not only take place through special men of God on large pulpits. This move of God will take place through ordinary believers; through the prophetic class teacher, the healing surgeon, the prophetic writer, the prophetic engineer, the anointed baker, the apostolic business man... We must all become weapons in God’s hand
“Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations...(Jeremiah chapter51 verses 20)”
Let us not be discouraged by the set backs of the past. Let us rise above mediocrity and the delusion of “someone else will do it” and let us unapologetically proclaim the victory of Christ over darkness.
We are the light of the world
One of the most profound descriptions of a Christian was given by Jesus Christ during his famous message on the Mount of Olives. He said,
“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.(Mathew chapter5 verses14-15 KJV)”
I believe that in this season, God is calling many sons to arise and shine. No more candles under the bushel! We are God’s ambassadors, we are missionaries with the greatest mission ever. So, let us arise and shine that men may see a city of light in a dark world.
Prayer: Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for the salvation of all men. Thank you for the great commission. I choose to be an everyday missionary. Give me the grace to preach your word without fear. Use me for your glory in Jesus name, Amen!
