Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit director Peter Jackson has just received his first Hollywood star, and he is over the moon about it.
The New Zealand filmmaker got his star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame as a recognition for his significant role in the film industry.
"It was 1974 and 40 years ago, I walked along the street and looked at these stars and never, ever in my wildest dreams thought I would ever find myself here today to receive a star," said Jackson.
His star is considered "prime estate" in the famed walk, as it is situated near the stars of Australian actress Nicole Kidman and fellow filmmaker Steven Spielberg.
The actors he has worked with - Andy Serkis, Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Richard Armitage, Elijah Wood, Jackson's producer wife, Fran Walsh and writer Philippa Boyens were all there to witness his shining moment.
The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies will be Jackson's last foray in Middle Earth.
