When 'The Originals' season 4 returns in 2017, fans will witness a heightened tiff between Original hybrid Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Upgraded Original Vampire Marcel(Charles Michael Davis) leading to a complicated relationship. Fans will also sense something different about Klaus in the fourth season.
"The indignity of Klaus Mikaelson's situation the last five years [is being] held captive by his surrogate son and forced to be an advisor to a king that he does not recognize," teased executive producer Julie Plec while speaking with Entertainment Weekly.
"Also, [he knows] Marcel is actually singularly responsible for the fact he's alive, because so many people have come to town in the last five years desperate to see him reduced to ash," she added.
Klaus met Marcel when the latter was 10 years old and took him on in a full brotherly relationship. There story is explored in flashbacks throughout the series.
Klaus was locked away for five years at the end of season 3 snatching away his chances being with his daughter Hope, his family and also the loss of Cami (Leah Pipes). The distance from baby Hope will anger the protagonist too, revealed Morgan.
"The one thing he can hold in his heart is that he kept her safe by doing that which I guess a lot of fathers do things for the good of their children but at the expense of the relationship with their children," he said.
"So I think this is maybe just that on a grander scale. The interesting thing to me will be how Hope reacts to him when they finally meet again. I'm really excited to shoot those scenes."
According to him, Klaus will be a dangerous prisoner waiting to be out and that he cannot be held captive for long.
There is also a lot of scepticism regarding Hope on the other hand as her powers are still unknown.
