The Final day of Hillsong Conference is always the most memorable.
Yesterday did not disappoint.
The first session began and it was quite frankly the biggest prayer meeting I have ever been in. One of my gripes as a Pastor and something that I have always struggled to come to terms with is why aren’t all our Prayer Meetings this big?
As Christians should it not be our desire to gather together to Pray. All week I have been talking about what blessing there is in people coming together in unity. The Bible says where 2 or more are gathered, I am there in the midst (Matthew 18:20).
We place far too much emphasise on the number and not on the gathering. It’s about being together in one spirit, one accord, one purpose. To glorify his name and to see His Kingdom come to earth as it is in Heaven. So for the first time I have seen in my life, 30,000 people were engaged in Prayer.
Different Hillsong Pastors came up and led the congregation in Prayer, while Hillsong Worship provided instrumental music. Pastor Chris Mendez of Hillsong Argentina, prayed for people who had a dryness in their Spirit and Prayed that the gift of tongues will be unleashed and those that do not have that gift will receive it.
But it was Teaching Pastor Robert Fergusson who perhaps carried the hopes and the future of our nation with his Prayer. Fergusson was telling a story of a Prayer meeting he was at in South Africa, where at the meeting the people started clapping with one finger on the other hand before eventually moving to two, three, fourth, then five and he encouraged the congregation to not stop clapping until they have clapped for every person they want to see added to the Kingdom of God.
When 30,000 people did this, it sounded like rain. When they did it in South Africa a drought was broken, rain came and 6,000 people came to know Jesus. Should Fergusson’s Prayer be answered (which it will be) the greatest revival to hit our land is very soon.
Concluded
The night concluded with one of the most stunning alter calls I have ever seen.
The room was expectant and Pastor Louie Giglio who preached on the last session led a Prayer breaking the curse of suicide on our nation.
“Jesus came to bring dead people back to life, I declare that suicide is going to end, I will live and not die and I will declare the works of the Lord.” He said passionately during the message.
He said at the start of the message, “That there are people in this room, who once said goodbye to the family and wrote the note that only two people saw, God and yourself.”
“If you have written that letter and you are here because of Jesus raise your hand he said.”
In a packed room, it went silent. Then an applause was heard in the upper levels and the room burst into applause and cheers.
There were people in the room that confessed that they were almost taken by the dreaded curse but came death to life.
It was a perfect end to Hillsong Conference 2019.
