It’s amazing how things can seem to come out of nowhere and hit you like a ton of bricks, things that you thought that you had dealt with. But in an instant something comes along, and you realise that it’s not exactly as you first thought.
For most of my life things have been one struggle after another, just when things start to look up something gets thrown my way and really knocks me for six. It’s like my legs get kicked out from underneath me and I fall to the ground with a thud.
I have found it a constant struggle when it comes to putting my trust in a “father” figure of any sort and sadly, I admit, even putting my trust in my Heavenly Father, God.
Growing up I had three “father” figures in my life before I came to know about Jesus and what He has done for me. Two of my “father” figures ended up hurting me beyond what I could ever thought possible.
But my third “father” figure was different from the other two in the way that he treated me, from the first time he met me right up till now.
Like all father/daughter relationships we’ve had our fights and disagreements, but he has been there still, willing to support and help me when I need him to.
As amazing as my step-dad can be, there is still someone else who is better, no, PERFECT, and that is God, my Heavenly father.
“Or what man is there among you who if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your father who is in Heaven give good things to those who ask him!” (Matthew chapter 7 verses 9-11 NKJV)
The One who never fails
This verse is a reminder to me that even though my “earthly fathers” haven’t always done what they were supposed to do, my Heavenly Father will never fail me and will always be there.
Yes, this is something that is a huge learning curve for me, especially with all I’ve been through.
But as I look back over my life so far, I can see that not only have I been through a lot, but not once have I been alone.
I have many testimonies of how my Heavenly Father has provided for me, cared for me, helped me and healed me during my life.
One of my most favourite verses is Isaiah chapter 41 verse 10 (NKJV) which says: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
I don’t know about you, but to me, this verse helps whenever I’m going through trials.
I believe that I’m not the only person that’s struggling with this, but I just want to let you know that you’re not alone; there are others that feel the same.
The Good News is that, through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, we can have a relationship with the PERFECT Father, and our PERFECT Father God, desires an individual relationship with each of His children. How blessed are we indeed!
