On the first day of competition, Saturday, October 10, 2009, Tom won a Gold medal with seven rowing buddies – and a coxswain – as well as Silver medals in the double sculls and the singles.
Tom won his first World Masters single sculls in Ghent, in 1994. During the fifth World Masters Games 2002, the rowing events were held on Lake Wendouree, Ballarat, 110km (90 minutes) from Melbourne. Mr Treseder won 1 Bronze, 3 Silver and 5 Gold medals, by winning the "Pairs without coxswain" (two men with an oar each), the "Quadruple sculls" (4 men with an oar each), "Quadruple sculls" (in the 70-75 age category), "Fours with coxswain" and "Fours without coxswain".
He now faces more races on Monday, October 12 in the eight and double sculls. On Tuesday, he will compete in a foursome with and without coxswain. Wednesday is a mixed eight and a quad sculls.
He rows dressed in black and white vertical stripes with a light blue cap. You can't miss him. He'll be the one up front!
