Sometimes, we really want to have something in life, and so we pray hard to God to ask for it. However, in classical Christian thought and teaching, God controls everything, only he knows what we need. If we haven't heard God's response to our prayer, just be more patient.
Here is the story about myself regarding to my job hunting process as an accountant.
I was praying to God to give me the right accounting job, as I have been looking for such a position for quite a long time. Every day when I take my break from work, I put my iPhone to use for job hunting – this meant sending my resume to companies who were looking for accountants.
Yes, fortunately, I did get some opportunities to have interviews with my future employers. But I wasn't to be to get those jobs in the end.
After these unsuccessful job hunting processes, I started to doubt whether I should continue looking for accounting jobs or not. Thus, I prayed more fervently to God asking Him to give me some guidance in this direction.
In early February 2013, on a special occasion, one of my friends heard that I was looking for an accounting job. This person gave my specific information to his friend, who might assist in putting forward my name for an interview. When I heard about this good news, I was so pleased. I thought this was the perfect prayer answer from the almighty God.
I had not heard anything from my friend until 2 weeks later; then I received a call from my friend's friend. On the phone, he told me that his company was looking for someone to join the financial team. I sent my resume to my friend's friend to show my interest
.
All the things went well, the following week, I had the opportunity to have an interview with that company. The interview went for one hour, and I showed my best side to the interviewer as well as my career objective. The interviewer gave every indication he was quite impressed with how I presented myself. After it, I was very confident that I had put forward a good case to be offered a position.
On the Friday of the same week that I had the interview, I got a positive feedback from the company. I was offered the position, and I was selected to be a part of the financial team.
It was such a wonderful feeling having heard the good news, I couldn't wait to tell the people who had been supporting me during my accounting job searches.
Bright yellow to grey
However, just as I thought this was the best that God offered me, I received a call on the following Monday, which turned my day from bright yellow to one of grey. The call was that the company changed their mind and chose to reverse their previous decision from the Friday in relation to offering me the accountancy role.
I was so disappointed that entire day until one of my Christian friends said the following words to me,
"Do not give up! This is a test from the God. He is testing whether you are still trusting in Him or not. God has something better for you! Keep trusting in Him, no matter what the circumstance".
Yes, that's right. Even though I was disappointed about the outcome, this made me trust in God more. He controls everything, and he will have something better for me, definitely!
My dear friends do not doubt where to go in the darkness. Trust in God, He will be a light in darkness and lead each one of us to the way he planned for us!
